FAD Read-A-Thon (March 1 - 22)
Your PTO is running a Read-A-Thon starting today, Friday, March 1, 2024.
Read-a-thons excite your reader about reading, allowing friends and family to encourage your child to read even more.

GameU Partnership (Turning Todays Gamers Into Tomorrows Creators) - March 1 - 28
Your PTO partnered with GameU and brought Extracurricular Programs to the FAD Community!
Transform your child's love for gaming into valuable STEAM skills and chart their future success with GameU engaging classes, innovative curriculum, and pro instructors.
A percentage will go back to FAD PTO when you sign up for their online classes.
Every First Friday of the month is Spirit Day at Desmares!
Our Dolphins are encouraged to wear their FAD swag on spirit days to show their school pride!

Spirit Day Contest - March 1
Your PTO runs a friendly competition between classes on spirit days!
Teachers count how many Dolphins wear FAD or blue shirts on spirit days. The class with the highest score wins a trophy to keep for the whole month!
School Store - March 1
Your PTO runs the school store once a month (except June) for 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th graders during recess time with the help of our amazing Parent Volunteers.
The school store allows students to buy fun supplies like pencils, pens, erasers, and more.
Prices range between 50 cents to $2.00 per item.
3rd Grade Field Trip to RVCC (Sponsored by FAD PTO) - March 1
Your PTO is funding a trip to the Raritan Valley Community College for all our 3rd-grade Dolphins.
They will be watching Cenicienta (A Bilingual Cinderella Story).
Glass Half Full Theatre will present it. It's an award-winning “story within a story” using puppetry, Spanish, and English and tackles cultural heritage, family, and the power of language.

School Social Worker Appreciation Week - March 4-8
Join us in thanking our School Social Worker (Mrs. Megan Appello), who brings light & hope to our Desmares Dolphins!
MONDAY 3/4: Read Me Day - Wear clothing with words or text.
TUESDAY 3/5: Cozy Up with a Book & a Buddy - Wear your comfy clothes and bring in a stuffy to read to.
WEDNESDAY 3/6: Wild about Reading - Wear animal print.
THURSDAY 3/7: Reading makes us BRIGHT - Wear bright colors and sunglasses.
FRIDAY 3/8: Blue Readers Unite - Wear blue, the universal color for unity.

St. Patrick's Day Hot Cocoa Bombs
Your PTO has partnered with "Kristen Costello" and brought St. Patrick's Day Hot Cocoa Bombs to the FAD Community!
All proceeds from our coin collection contest will support purchasing books for children in our Desmares community during our Spring Book Fair.
Collection bins are located in each classroom.
Save your change; it can make a big difference!
The grade level that collects the most change will win a Crazy Hair/Pajama Day (Teacher's Choice), and each teacher in that grade level will get a FREE book from the book fair for their classroom library.

Spring Book Fair - March 18 - 21
Ahoy mateys!
The Scholastic Spring Book Fair is coming to our school!
A boatload of books will wash ashore on March 18, and everyone is invited to join our crew!
There will be fun activities, a fantastic contest, and a fabulous Family Event on March 19.
Get hooked on reading at the Spring Book Fair!
Students can purchase books with their class during Book Fair Week. If you would like your child to buy books during their class visit, please remember to send in cash, a check payable to FAD PTO, or set up an eWallet for your child.
Our library is looking for volunteers to help with shelving and labeling books, assisting students with choosing and checking out books and helping with library displays and other special projects.
Please click the link below if you are interested. Library volunteers are needed throughout the year (for consistency, we ask that you volunteer at least three shifts per month).

Stephen Maszczak Scholarship Award - Ongoing
The Stephen Austin Maszczak Scholarship Award started after FAD lost one of its Dolphins to a brain tumor in 2011.
It is awarded to graduating students of Hunterdon Central Regional High School and is to be used for college or vocational school expenses. Desmares former students can apply for this scholarship in early 2024 through the counseling office at HCHRS. Students are asked to name past and present teachers or administration that influenced them in some way, big or small. Please know that your donation is making a meaningful impact on a former student and continuing the remembrance of a very special Desmares student, Stephen Maszczak.
Your PTO has partnered with "SchoolStore.com" to raise funds for essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed.
Your participation is easy, with no more than 12 minutes of your time required, and there is an excellent prize program available to make this a fun experience.
